Five patients with congenital and acquired cardiac diseases were successfully operated last january at the Yaoundé General Hospital (2 PDA closure, 2 Mitral Replacement, 1 CABG) after been referred from outside centers. The prompt availability of the local team allowed a timely management that was critical for one patient with acute coronary syndrome. This emphasizes on the importance to garantee regular activities in the existing local units that should serve as references centers for cardiovascular emergencies.

To date, more than a hundred patients who are candidates for a cardiac intervention have been inserted in the waiting list but no current elective program is possible due to the shortage of medical items.

HCF continues to promote general sensibilization to cardiovascular diseases and mobilize all its efforts to support many cardiac patients as possible.
